Volunteer Inquiry

In addition to filling out an online inquiry, please bring a hard copy of the completed BARK volunteer application/waiver with you during your first volunteer outing. The application/waiver can be downloaded here. Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with BARK!

Volunteer Inquiry

Please note the following age requirements for new volunteers: 16 and older to volunteer alone; 12-15 to volunteer with a parent or guardian; no volunteers under the age of 12. These age requirements are in place to ensure the safety of both our volunteers and our dogs.

Note: For families with multiple members under 18, one volunteer application may be submitted.

Once your application is received, a BARK representative will contact you at the primary email address provided on your volunteer application. Because the majority of our volunteers work full time jobs in addition to the time they dedicate to BARK, please allow up to two weeks for a response to your online application.

*Want to volunteer with BARK, but unsure as to how or where? Select “Unsure” and a knowledgeable representative will work with you to explain the opportunities available.

I, the undersigned volunteer or parent or guardian (if volunteer under 18) understand and agree that a possibility of injury may occur while working with animals. A Virginia law went into effect on July 1, 2003 requiring all “home-based rescues,” which would include BARK (Bandit’s Adoption & Rescue of K-9s) within its definition, to obtain signed statements from anyone adopting from, volunteering with, or connected to us in any capacity that the individual “has never been convicted of animal neglect, abandonment, or cruelty.”

I, the applicant on this form and undersigned volunteer or parent or guardian (if volunteer under 18), am connected with a home-based rescue as defined under Virginia law, specifically BARK (Bandit’s Adoption & Rescue of K-9s), as a volunteer, fostering individual, and/or adopter. With my signature below, I attest that I have never been convicted of animal neglect, abandonment, or cruelty.
